Brief Introduction
ODC-42 Engraving Machine is a compact CNC machine designed for precise engraving and cutting. It uses a computer-controlled system with a high-speed spindle to deliver smooth and accurate performance. Suitable for wood, acrylic, plastic, stone, and similar materials, making it ideal for workshops and custom projects.
Control System
The control system is the core of the engraving machine, featuring the MKS DLC32 V2.1 CNC controller and MKS TS35 V2.0 touchscreen. Users design and program on the computer, then transfer the toolpaths to the controller, which precisely controls the machine to cut and engrave along the preset paths.
Mechanical
The mechanical structure forms the backbone of the engraving machine, including the frame, worktable, lead screws, and drive system. The rigid frame provides stability, while the worktable securely holds the workpiece. The motion and drive systems ensure accurate and smooth movement of the cutting tool during engraving and cutting operations.
Cutting Tools
The cutting tool is a key component of the engraving machine, including both the tool and its holder. It performs the actual cutting and engraving, with options like carbide or high-speed steel tools chosen based on the material and the desired precision or finish.
Drive System
The drive system is an essential part of the engraving machine, consisting of motors, reducers, couplings, and other transmission components. It powers the cutting tool to rotate and move precisely along programmed paths, allowing the machine to perform complex engraving and cutting operations efficiently.
Preparation before use
Connect the power adapter to the machine and switch it on.
Make sure the emergency stop button on top of the control box is released (if pressed, twist or pull it to open).
Press the angel eye switch on the side of the control box to start the machine.
Common Carving Materials
Wood: A traditional and versatile material, available in types like oak, pine, and maple. It can be carved, sawed, sanded, and painted, making it ideal for furniture, decorations, and architectural projects.
Plywood: Made from layers of glued wood veneers, plywood offers excellent strength and stability. It is widely used in construction, furniture, and packaging. Its quality depends on the wood type and gluing process.
Acrylic: A hard, transparent plastic with great weather and corrosion resistance. Acrylic is popular for display cases, signs, lighting, and decorative items, and can be cut, engraved, or thermoformed.
MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard): Made from pressed wood fibers, MDF has a smooth, uniform surface suitable for coatings. It is commonly used in furniture, interior decoration, and packaging.
Plastic: Lightweight and corrosion-resistant synthetic materials, including polyethylene, polypropylene, and PVC. Used for containers, pipes, toys, and packaging.
Brass: A copper-zinc alloy with good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. Brass is used for decorations, hardware, and fittings.
Aluminum Sheet: Lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and ductile, aluminum sheets are used in automotive, aerospace, architectural projects, electronic housings, and signage.
